Aldrich 75th Anniversary

Aldrich School opened in 1944 as the Mayo Clinic’s Child Health Institute Demonstration Nursery School. We celebrated our 75th anniversary throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

RochesterFest Parade

Aldrich kicked off its 75th year with a float in the RochesterFest Parade on June 29, 2019. More than 25 volunteers from the Aldrich Family rode and walked with the float, handing out sidewalk chalk to children along the route. The float was designed by Dr. William Earl for the parade theme “Do You Believe in Magic,” and included among its features a top hat, magic wand, flying carpet, and genie’s lamp. Our float was celebrated as a parade winner for “Best Use of Theme.”

Best Preschool

In September of its 75th school year, Aldrich School was awarded Best Preschool at the Post Bulletin’s Best of the Best Awards banquet. This was the fourth time in five years that Aldrich School received this honor.

Looking Ahead

During the 2019-2020 school year, continuous improvements are being made to Outdoor Classroom A, which will be a certified natural playscape by the end of the school year. Updating existing outdoor classrooms 1-3 is one of the exciting projects on the horizon for Aldrich.
